I am still sleeping for about 2 hours, waking up for about an hour, and then sleeping for about another 5 hours. I woke up around 3am and got up to get something to eat and then turned on the TV and started watching the 700 Club. They had these 'Singing Contractors' on the show - 2 construction workers who posted a video of them singing in an empty house and it went viral - they're really good! That was pretty cool. I was up for a little less than an hour and went back to sleep and woke up around 9. My Home Health nurse showed up shortly after that, and we had talked about changing my whole urostomy bag and base today, but we both felt it was looking really firm so we agreed I would try to make it last a few more days. He said I was doing so great that, even though I had several visits left, he thought we could just meet once next week and then he would sign off with me. So that was encouraging. He also commented on the fact that he was pleased that I wasn't experiencing a lot of leakage - he said that is a problem for most people. Wow - that would be SUCH a bummer! I'm definitely a little nervous about leaking - the one time it did was so traumatic for me and I wasn't even in public. I'm going to a funeral tomorrow, so I'm thinking I may want to change everything out just for peace of mind's sake. We'll see. A little while after he left I went ahead and cleaned the stoma and the bag using the same method of leaning over the sink. As I was taking the bag off the other stent that had not pulled out at all started pulling out a few inches. At least this time it didn't freak me out! I went ahead and cut some of the length off of it to match the length of the other one. I really wish I knew how long it would take for them to fall out. But I guess it really doesn't matter, so I'll just see how it goes.
So my daughter and I were able to put some Christmas ornaments on the tree, but then a friend showed up for a visit. She brought baked chicken from the grocery store and some flowers and a huge dessert - it was so sweet! I've written 26 thank you notes so far, mailing the last 5 out I think yesterday, and just since then I've received things from 6 more people, and therefore need to write 6 more! I can't believe the continued outpouring of love and support we have - even 3 weeks after my surgery! It's incredible! Then another friend stopped by and she's into essential oils, so she brought me all these things she made with essential oils - hand soap and hand scrub and foot lotion and a milk bath and an air spray - it was AWESOME! So we had a very nice visit, and then she left and it was time for a power nap! I decided not to go on a walk today - I did a LOT yesterday so I just took it easy today. Well - sort of. I ended up sweeping our tile floors both in the morning and right before bed, plus some more things I'll get to in a minute. I had another friend come shortly after 5 to bring us dinner, and I convinced her to visit a bit before she had to go, so that was nice. I ended up taking another longer nap around 7pm tonight, so I was feeling a bit energetic around 10pm so I emptied the dishwasher, put away the clean dishes on the right side of the sink, washed the dishes in the left side of the sink, cleaned the stove, wiped down all the counters, emptied the kitty litter, emptied the ashes out of the fireplace, and that's when I swept again for the 2nd time today. I was pretty proud of myself and felt very productive but didn't feel like I overdid it! But now it is approaching midnight, so hopefully I'll be able to wind down and go to sleep soon! Until tomorrow...
