Merry Belated Christmas!

12/30/2010

Merry Belated Christmas, everyone!  Belated blog is more like it, huh?  :-)  Sorry for the wait - I just kind of feel like, "We're home!  I don't need to blog - we're just at home.  We're seeing a lot of people, so I don't really need to blog."  Does that make sense?

Anyway, we are now - after spending Christmas with our grandparents and aunt - parked next to a friend's house in their huge yard.  Actually, we're parked in their side yard, but they have a huge front yard, backyard, and a deck that you can walk out on near the lake!!  It's so pretty.

Three nights ago I woke up at 2-something in the morning to find that my air mattress was deflated.  I was too tired to do anything, so I just went back to sleep.  The next night was a test run to see if it would deflate again - sometimes the cap just gets a little unscrewed or something, and air slowly leaks out.  But this was not one of those times.  Again, at about 2-something in the morning, I woke up to a flat bed.  So I grabbed my pillow and my blanket, and I squeezed onto Mom and Dad's bed with them.  :-)  Last night - yeah, we waited the whole day to look at it - we inspected my bed and Nicholas found a little pin-point hole in it.  I gathered up a few things, and I trekked through the cold all the way to the doorstep of our friend's house (which was about 20 feet away).  :-)  I slept in their guest bedroom last night - and since it is now past 8:00 and we haven't done anything about getting a new air mattress or something, it looks like I'm going to be sleeping in there again tonight - hallelujah!!  :-)  I really don't mind (that much) sleeping in the RV, but the room that I slept in is awesome!  The queen bed is very comfortable - I got to make it just like I used to make my queen bed in my old room - that's one thing I don't miss.  :-)  But the windows are the best - large windows that overlook the lake - beautiful!!  I woke up this morning at about 8:20 AM or so (the sunlight streaming in through the windows might have had something to do with that), and I read the chapters of Revelation for this morning according to the Life Journal.  I was so tired, I almost fell asleep four or five times in the middle of reading!  :-)  I went back in the RV at about 9:00 AM, expecting the boys to already be starting breakfast - and they weren't even up, and Noah and Mom were still asleep.  :-)

I was wide awake by then, so I went back outside and sat out on the deck near the lake, just watching nature.  Yesterday afternoon I went outside and sat in a chair in the middle of the backyard with my Bible.  I let the wind flip through the pages of my Bible - through Proverbs, Psalm, Job, etc. - as I caught little snatches of verses here and there.  It was really cool.  Then I walked out on the deck and sat and prayed.  To anyone watching, it might have looked like I was talking to the wind, but I was really talking to God.  :-)  I loved it.

Today we spent nearly the entire day dragging out everything from the outside compartments on our RV onto the big green rug stretched out in the side yard and sorting through all that junk - er, items.  :-)  Taking everything out wasn't the problem - weeding through everything was.  :-)  But we're all glad we got it done - we got a bunch of stuff to give to a thrift store and a bunch to put in storage.  I think we got rid of a little more than 500 hundred pounds - maybe 600.  I don't know.  I wish it was 2,000 lbs we got rid of!!  :-)

Well, was that post long enough for everyone?  :-)  Happy New Year!!!  God bless!

P.S. I would be posting some pictures, but a certain someone is begging to get on the computer (and it's definitely not N-O-A-H - just kidding!) :-)

Waking Up to a Dentist's Appointment - not something you want to do :-)

Hello, everyone!  Sorry I haven't posted in a few days.  It's been pretty busy lately.  We (Mom, Nicholas and I) got some laundry done yesterday even though it was Sunday, but we needed it desperately - you might say our donkey was in a ditch.  :-)  Anyway, it's about noon right now, and we've already got denist appointments done (at 8:00 AM this morning!  Argh...not something you want to wake up to), we ate breakfast (at BK, of course), Noah went to a doctor's appointment, and now we're driving home.  Then we're hoping to get showers at the Y, eat lunch, and then Mom is going to take Nathan to the ortho to get his wires back on his braces, and Nicholas is going to tag along.  I'm hoping to paint my nails red for the Christmas party, but I don't know if I'll have time.  :-)  Nicholas is going to a friend's house tonight, BTW, while the rest of us are at the Christmas party.

Church yesterday morning was AMAZING.  It was one of the best worship times for me.  While we were singing the songs at the beginning of the service, I felt like I was finally, for the first time, worshiping in 'spirit and in truth'.  I felt connected to God in a way I hadn't before while I praised Him.  It was really great.

I hope everyone had a great weekend!!  God bless!!

First Full Day Back in Florida!!

Well, it is almost 9:00 PM, and I have had a wonderful day in the Sunshine State!

OK, even if you aren't interested and even if I bore you to death and even if you never want to read my blog again, you are going to get a full report of what happened today.  :)  We talked with a few former neighbors, and after we ate lunch in the RV, my mom and I went and took showers at the YMCA (I'm going to have the silly YMCA song stuck in my head for the rest of the night now).  We didn't take too long, and after about a half an hour back at the ranch, Mom and I dropped off the boys at the Y to take their showers, and then Mom dropped me off at the library.  Then my mom went to our storage unit and picked up a spare key from a friend (yes, we temporarily lost the keys to the storage units).  She looked in our unit for our library cards, didn't find them (yeah, we temporarily lost those, too), and then headed to the Y to get her hair ready and pick up the boys.  She came and picked up Noah and I (and, after getting Noah and I each another free library card, picked up my books on hold and Noah's).  I was reading the books the whole time.  :-)  I finally got Piercing the Darkness!!!  Hallelujah!  :-)  Anyway, then we went straight to church and arrived only about a half an hour late.  We watched the service among a few scattered people up in the balcony, and then we mingled with people in the lobby.  It was great!!

So, now here I am, after a delicious dinner.  Actually, before dinner I watched the boys play Ping-Pong in our neighbor's house.  :-)  I probably did end up boring you to death, but I still have one more thing to share with you.  Yesterday on the drive here I wrote a poem.  It's not a genius poem or anything, but while I was writing it, I felt God nudging me to write down certain things.  And afterwards I was bubbling with joy - like a chocolate milkshake!  :-)  Hope you like it!!

Lined paper, hand towels, and carpeted floors,
Soft tissues, pillows, and arms that aren't sore;
Curtains, zippers, and snack bags galore,
Just might be some things that I'm thankful for.

Talks with my mom and Dad's daily hugs,
Games with my brothers and their loving shoves;
Prayer, the Bible, and kisses from above,
Just might be some of the things that I love.

We are in Florida!!!  Last night we stayed at the Wal-Mart that we always used to go to, and this morning my mom went to her dance class.  While she was gone, Nathan and I went grocery shopping, and we finished putting everything away when she arrived home. Perfect timing!

Right now she is (with the Mazda) at our former neighbor’s house who is trimming the boys’ hair (finally!), and Dad and I just pulled into the neighborhood with the RV (we just dropped off the Tow Dolly at someone else’s house).  We’re staying in another neighbor’s backyard, which is awesome!!

OK, I gotta go.  God bless!!

If you’ve read my mom’s blog already, you’ll know that today we went to the Museum of Aviation, where we met a family there that recommend-ed the museum to us.  They had two little girls who were SO adorable!  Here is a picture of the oldest girl with me and Nathan  :-)  We had fun with them.

We are driving right now in the RV on our way 'home' to FLORIDA!!!!!  Hallelujah!!  It’s not that I don’t absolutely love traveling with my family (which I do, by the way), I just can’t wait to see all my friends and the other members of my family!  :-)

I read a verse recently in the Bible that Paul wrote which says, “Reflect on what I am saying, for the Lord will give you insight into all this.”  (2 Timothy 2:7)  So that’s what I’m trying to do: study and chew on what the Bible says throughout the day (all of what is in the Bible, by the way, is inspired by God, as Paul writes later in 2 Timothy).  I’m also working on keeping constant connection with God throughout the day.  I mean, if I only talk to Him in the morning, the evening, and when things are going so well, what does that show?  What should I expect from God if I can’t even talk to Him?  Praise prayers also aren’t as high on my priority list as they should be.  Once again, if I only go to God when things are going ‘wrong’, how should I expect to have a right relationship with Him?

Last thing: a few days ago I felt like writing, and I knew I had to practice free-writing (that means just writing and writing without changing it while you type to make it “perfect”).  I am such a perfectionist.  :-)  Anyway, I eventually came up with a subject to write about, but I need more ideas!  If everyone who’s reading this would comment with ANY random subject, that would be awesome!  Thanks.  God bless everyone!!

Beautiful Song

I really need to start posting before my mom does, because she always steals the pictures!!  :)  Just kidding.  Aren't the pictures of Desoto Falls gorgeous???  I absolutely loved it - except for the fact that it was chilly and very, very windy.  Brrr!!!  :)  How are the Floridians coping with the cold weather?

I want to share with you an awesome experience I had a few nights ago.  I was lying in bed, everyone was going to sleep, and I grabbed my MP3 and headphones and turned on the radio.  I searched around a little bit for a station.  I found one just as a song was ending, and closed my eyes to listen to the next.  The song I heard was so beautiful I almost cried.  It didn’t actually have any words to it, which I actually liked.  It was tranquil and soothing, like waves gently crashing on the beach.  Behind all the peaceful tones there was an instrument playing that created a joyful aroma that perfumed the tune like flowers perfume the air.  It perfectly illustrated how I should act towards others, with gentle kindness, peaceful patience, loving compassion, and overflowing joy.

I definitely sensed the Holy Spirit talking to me in that song.  I’m very, very thankful for it, and this might sound weird, but I’m actually kind of surprised that it even happened.  Lately it’s been kind of hard for me to talk with God.  It’s strange, because I’ve never really felt awkward praying – not like this, anyway.  I think maybe I’m realizing how sacred prayer is, and it makes me a little nervous.  Or maybe I’m just feeling a bit distant from God right now.

In conclusion, I want to tell y’all about a passage a girl I know shared with me: Job 9, especially verses one through twenty.  It intensely describes how powerful and supreme our God is.  I hope you have a chance to read it!!

Nancy Rue and Panda Claws

I know, I know, I’m not exactly keeping up with my mom's posts.  J  Nathan just said that he sort of wants to blog, but he doesn’t have anything to say.  My mom suggested he mention that the Bucs lost.  “I’m not saying that!!”  He protested, his voice going somewhere up high in the galaxy.  “That would be awful news!”  J  By the way, we can connect to cable at this campground, so we – that is, all the boys – watched the Tampa Bay-against-Atlanta game before a late dinner.  That’s why I’m posting at nine-o-clock Central Time on a Sunday night.  Nathan wants to say that the Bucs lost 28 to 24.  He also says that the referees made horrible calls which made ‘us’ lose.  I say he needs to blog.

Before I say anything else: I had a GREAT time with Nancy Rue!!!!  I was SO surprised when we walked in the restaurant (I think it was called Cuckoo's Nest or something) and there was Mrs. Rue, my fave author!  My mom already posted all the pictures we took.  We talked for two and a half hours!  What I really liked about her is that she wasn't like, "OK, I really have to get back and finish packing [which she actually did need to do], so I'll get this cutesy little mommy-daughter-meets-author thing over with so I can leave."  She let me get all excited in the beginning, and then the three of us talked and talked like we were long lost friends!  :-)  It was great getting to meet her - and she gave me three awesome books she wrote, too, signed by her, along with three bookmarks.

We had a good little church late this morning, we ate lunch about a half an hour down the road, and then we had a fairly short drive to this campground in Alabama.  And then, after parking and getting level and hooking up and everything, a young adult came by and she explained that sadly we were in a ‘buddy site’, which means we have to have another RV next to us.  Great.  So tomorrow morning we are either going move to another site, or Dad is going to sweet talk our way out of it.  J  But back up to two days ago when we checked into our hotel after a delicious dinner and interesting exploration of Opryland (hey, you would call it ‘interesting’, too, if you saw a gigantic zebra with a guitar and a huge panda bear dressed up like Santa Claus or something.  Nathan named the panda bear 'Panda Claws'.)  Nathan and Noah shared a double bed, Nicholas stretched out on the queen-sized pull out couch, and I slept like a baby – a very comfortable baby – on the other double bed (Mom and Dad had a room next to us).  I had been having some problems sleeping lately, but that night I didn’t wake up once.  In the morning, when I did wake up, I was full of energy and was done with my quiet time when the boys were rubbing their sleepy eyes.  J  I had a good night’s sleep last night, too.  I think I just need to get to sleep at about 10 and wake up at about 7:30 – that still gives me a total of nine and a half hours of sleep!!

Anyway, before I make you go to sleep, I need to go to sleep so I’ll end here.  Hope you all have a great week!!  God bless.
