A Great Lord's Day!

When Tim was in his master's program in Colorado we lived on campus there at Colorado Christian University right above another couple who were also in the program.  Well, it turns out this couple  lives nearby where we are staying, so we were able to make    contact with them and  meet them at their church in Lancaster, PA this morning.  What a great time of worship and studying the word it was!  We all really enjoyed the time there - Nathan came up to me after the service and said (referring to the Pastor), "That guy was awesome!"  We then really connected with them during lunch at a Friendly's restaurant, and I felt like almost no time had passed since we last saw them over 13 years ago!  It was so great to hear how the Lord had led them BOTH into medical school, and then 3 1/2 years ago they started their own practice.  They are just a precious couple listening to and obeying the Lord's direction as He gives it.  I just have to mention that our kids were fantastic about spending time together and letting us connect with our friends with minimal interruptions.  It was just a great time to be had by all.  :-)

We then made our way to Hershey, PA to visit... what else... the Chocolate Factory!  We drove in on Cocoa Ave and turned left onto Chocolate Ave - isn't that cool?  The lamp posts look like Hershey's kisses at the top - I so wish we had gotten pictures of that.  But Tim did snap a picture of us just before we went in:

We had heard there was a tour of the factory, but it turns out it is kind of like a ride at Disney where you walk onto a conveyer belt and board a people mover that takes you through different rooms.  It describes how they make the chocolate, but you're not actually seeing the factory so I think that was a little bit of a let down to all of us.  In true Disney fashion the end of the ride dumps you out into a gift shop.  So the kids had fun checking out all the different ways chocolate can be marketed, and Tim and I had fun sitting on a bench people watching.  I think it's been years since we've had time to do that, and I was simply fascinated.  But all good things must come to an end, so we loaded up in the car to head back to our camper.  You may remember I shared a prayer request for us to find a good bicycle for Nathan since he had outgrown his.  Well, I had checked out craigslist in this area and found a guy who was selling a bicycle not too far from us.  Nathan had really hoped for a blue one, and even though  this one was gray and black he agreed we should go ahead and at least look at it.  We all prayed the Lord would make it clear if this was it or not, and as soon as we arrived and Nathan hopped on we realized it was too big.  But the guy also just happened to have a blue one for sale that was the perfect size for Nathan.  I don't know anything about bikes, but this is a Cannondale that we evidently got dirt cheap (as I've been looking into them on the web since we got home).  What a blessing and a great answer to prayer!  You should have seen us all squeezed together with the bike running down the middle inside our small Mazda5!  But we made it back in one piece with a very happy boy.  Another fire tonight with burgers on the grill and s'mores and we had 4 very happy children!  Yes, we have a lot to be thankful for!

I look forward everyday to search your next chapter. I am usually up early every morning and I find you as a "waker-upper"! I was up later tonight and I thought I would check and there you are! What a GREAT Lord's day you have had. You all are certainly blessed and I am thrilled that you ALL know it! The "blue" bike was NOT a coincidence... we all know that! Thanks for including us in your venture. "God Happenings" are exciting to read. I may not write everyday but I sure do read you! Bless you ALL... still wish I had gone along... We still love "our" bed!

What a great time LuAnne and I had with you all yesterday! It was so great to meet your wonderful family. Our comments were very similar as we left Friendly's yesterday--it felt like we just picked up where we left off. We were so blessed by your acknowledgement of the "witness of the Spirit." So many people return that with blank stares! I'm sorry to not have warned you about the Disney theme at Hershey; it's been years since you could actually go through the real factory. Thanks for the kind words...looking forward to following the steps of your faith journey. Blessings!

Love reading about your adventures. The Lord has been blessing you along the way. I'm sure Nathan will love his Cannondale - I had one at UF; great bike! When were you at CCU? The campus is about 2 miles from my office in Lakewood. I was there from Jan 98 to Jan 06.

    Tim & Jodie

Tim and Jodie have been married since Nov. 5, 1988.  Tim is a retired Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and retired city of Tampa Firefighter.   Jodie is a happily laid off IBM/AT&T 21 yr veteran employee. So I guess you can say they're both retired, but still super busy!  They have four wonderful children:  triplets Nathan, Nicole, and   Noah born 11/16/97 and Nicholas born 5/16/99.  Nathan is at Trinity College, Noah is at Florida Polytechnic University, and Nicole is at USF.  Nicholas is an EDM (electronic dance music) creator and hoping to make a living from that!  We love and are so proud of our kids!
