What a contrast to yesterday! Actually, things went great at our campsite before we left this morning (I took a very lovely shower and did 3 loads of laundry right next to where our camper was parked - very convenient!), but after we left it was a different story. We had a hard time finding a gas station we could get in and out of very easily, and the needle was nosing more towards empty than we felt comfortable with. We finally found a place off of I-26 that worked out extremely well and was only $2.42 a gallon! Not bad. Shortly after that while we were back on the highway we heard a loud noise that sounded like somthing popped and realized we had a flat tire. It wasn't on the RV though - it was the left wheel of the tow dolly that was towing our car. It completed tore off the wheel well and break lights on that side, and the tire was completely shredded. Tim masterfully pulled off on the shoulder and took the car off owhich I drove behind the RV until we could exit and find a safe place for him to change the tire (thankfully we had a spare!). Meanwhile, I was inside dealing with a very defiant child which was quite a discouragement. Not 30 minutes after getting back on the road after the tire episode the AC that we had fixed before we left stopped working. And then we had a smell that smelled like something burning that caused us to pull off the road again and walk around the RV with a fire extinguisher, but we never could determine the source of it, and the smell finally went away. About 20 minutes from our destination the AC decided to start working intermittently again, so we had a small reprieve from the brutal heat. We've had pretty smooth sailing since arriving at our campsite - so it appears the moral of the story is... DON'T GO ANYWHERE! :-) Well, we're here near Charlotte, NC for about 5 days near some very dear friends who we got to see tonight for a couple of hours. So hopefully, we'll be able to get the AC fixed, regroup and be ready for the next leg of our journey! Thank you for all your prayers, as I did feel very protected despited the mishaps of the day. We appreciate all of you!
