A global pandemic? What in the world? Restaurants shutting down (and Nicholas just FINALLY got a job at a restaurant after not working for the past 5 months!!), movie theaters shutting down, colleges closing! So, Nathan came home from college today! We went to Trinity and helped pack his stuff up in our car and his car - and it just barely fit! He didn't have all this stuff when we moved him into college last August! Here's a picture of him and Nicole trying to figure out where to put all his stuff because Noah's supposed to fit in there, too, eventually. Noah's college (Polytechnic University) is allowing him to stay even though all of his classes are online, so he's going to stay there until the semester is over. But it should be interesting trying to get his stuff in the same room with Nathan. Yikes!
We were so privileged to be able to serve as a Host Couple at one of Winshape's signature series marriage retreats again this past weekend. They gave us so much free time on Saturday we were able to go to the House of Dreams that I have heard so much about and always wanted to go to but never seemed to have the time when we were there. We started out the day saying hello to the statue of Truett Cathy (Chick-fil-a's founder) and taking some pictures with him. After the morning session we were all given a picnic bag for lunch with sandwiches and chips and fruit and cookies and conversation starters - even a picnic tablecloth! We then went on that hike, and what a gorgeous day for a hike it was! I think it took us about an hour and a half to get to the top, and it was so worth it! When we got back to our room I took some pictures of that (I think it's the nicest room we've ever had there!), and my final picture is of us with our friends, the Kerr's. They live near Macon, so we drove to their place after the marriage retreat and spent the night there last night. They are a very dear couple who served with us in re|engage (the marriage ministry we lead at our church) before they moved. It was really great reconnecting with them! Just a little side note and really kind of TMI, but I just have to note that since we did drive up and back I decided to test out connecting a leg bag to my urostomy bag. Well, that turned out to be THE BOMB! I used to be the one we always had to stop for, but this time it was Tim looking for the rest areas. I would just say, "oh, I'm sorry honey, you have to go pee pee? Pour thing"! Lol!
We have a dear lady who serves as the Pastor of Prayer and Freedom at our church, Fiona (pictured here on the right), and she invited myself and my good friend, Marie, over for tea today! She's from England, so we enjoyed a real treat with a real 'high tea' experience! Look at her tea set - so adorable, like her! Really enjoyed that time!
Hmmm - I'm seeing a theme here. I see one of my siblings, and then I go on a retreat - lol! My sister and I met in Sarasota to celebrate her birthday! We had a nice lunch at a restaurant called Fresh Kitchen - so good! And then we walked around the shops. The weather was just gorgeous so it was a great day to window shop! And then we went to the Mr. Rogers movie - SO GOOD! Loved it! I almost felt like it was my birthday we had such a nice time!
Then this past weekend, Tim and I went on a marriage retreat called Centurions. It was SO great. Loved the leaders and the rest we were able to have and the connection with God. I only got a picture of us in the room we stayed, but most of our time was spent outside - it was SO nice!
We got home today from the retreat and shortly after we arrived home Grandpa & Grandpa Drees stopped by the afternoon on their way back up north! I was so glad to have all the kids home, so we snapped these pictures at the table when we were having lunch together. So grateful for that time together!
