Yesterday was such a beautiful day! We had a great Little Church. Nathan shared with us some verse out of Proverbs 3, and Noah & I were sharing Tim's men's Bible. On that page was a devotional written by Bill Hybels about courage. I'm going to write some of it here:
'As Christians, we sometimes feel like blindfolded children [in the game where children blindfold each other and give each other verbal directions through an obstacle course]. Paul says in 2 Cor 5:7, "We live by faith, not by sight." We are not alone in the woods, though - God will direct our paths. But following Jesus Christ demands an enormous amount of courage. Quite often his leadings sound illogical, irrational, countercultural. Sometimes he is so challenging that I say, "No, I think I'll just crawl back into my shell and play it safe." Then a voice inside me says, "Where's your courage, Hybels? Get up and walk. You can trust God." Cowards do not last long on their spiritual pilgrimages. They shrivel up and disappear. It takes enormous courage to repent and become a Christian. It takes enormous courage tofollow God's leadings in the Christian life. Some of his callings demand the best that you can summon. Some of his tests stretch you to the limit. Some of his adventures evoke great fears and doubts. Truly, spiritual courage is on the endangered character-quality list.' Good stuff, eh?
Well, yesterday was also Scary's birthday. Who is Scary, do you ask? It's this big stuffed animal (Tiger) that Nathan insisted we bring because he's had it for years. So Nicholas made a party hat for him and I snapped a picture of him with Nathan. I also had my sweet friend of 25 years, Hollyhead, come visit me yesterday. Enjoy the pictures below of both events. :-)
