Family and Legacy

My brother and sister-in-law, along with his 3 boys, are in town with my parents this weekend, so we made the trek down to Port Charlotte for the weekend.  It seems to take us FOREVER to get anywhere.  I don't think we got here until like 3pm-ish!  As my Grandma used to say, "We're off like herd of turtles" only you have to pronounce it 'hoid of toitles" to get the full Grandma effect.  Speaking of my Grandma, she had a GREAT sense of humor, and always had funny Grandma-isms to say.  I have written down as many as I can remember and thought I'd share a few of my favorite ones here.  Here they are:
Do me a favor please, and if you don't please, do it anyhow.
After me, you come first.
My mistake, your fault.
Good for you!  You read them the riot act and I'll turn the pages.
Yes, I went to church.  I went to St. Mattress with Father Blanket officiating.
It's raining cats and dogs....I hope we don't step on a poodle!
We're too soon old and too late smart.
I'm doing pretty good considering I have aids......one in my right ear and one in my left.
If someone was staying at her home too late, she would hand them their hat and say, "Here's your hat, what's your hurry?"
If she drove through a red light, she would sheepishly say to no one in particular, "Slightly pink, ociffer".

We had fun sitting around telling stories about her and my Grandpa.  Made me wonder what kind of legacy I'll leave.  My sister and I watched the Miss America pagaent tonight just like we used to do when we were kids.  After Miss Nebraska won Nicole and I went on the computer to find out more about her.  Turns out she is a believer who really wants her life to be all about following the Lord.  She's the youngest person to ever win the title, and it also made me think of the legacy she is already leaving.  Hmm...maybe I'll bring that song, "Legacy" by Nichole Nordeman for little church tomorrow - shhh - don't tell my family yet.  We always like whatever song we bring to be a surprise for the others.  If you've never heard that song before, look it up on rhapsody.com or youtube or something....good stuff.  Well, I hope everyone enjoys a great Lord's day tomorrow!  Blessings.

    Tim & Jodie

Tim and Jodie have been married since Nov. 5, 1988.  Tim is a retired Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and retired city of Tampa Firefighter.   Jodie is a happily laid off IBM/AT&T 21 yr veteran employee. So I guess you can say they're both retired, but still super busy!  They have four wonderful children:  triplets Nathan, Nicole, and   Noah born 11/16/97 and Nicholas born 5/16/99.  Nathan is at Trinity College, Noah is at Florida Polytechnic University, and Nicole is at USF.  Nicholas is an EDM (electronic dance music) creator and hoping to make a living from that!  We love and are so proud of our kids!
