It's time to post!

That’s what I (Tim) said to myself when I saw how long it had been since I had posted.  We’ve been on the road for over 30 days now and I think I’m beginning to understand how wrong it is to say that God never gives us more than we can handle!  I do understand the inference that “He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear” (I Cor 10:13) is very helpful when we are struggling with temptation.  But I’m talking about ‘going and not knowing”.  This trip is making it abundantly clear that I have no idea what we are doing.  Let me offer you a perfect example of what I’m talking about.  I was explaining to my brother on the phone today how much we want to share as a family with other families how to enjoy things that can strengthen their closeness.  My brother is too kind of a soul to ask it, but I realized in the course of our conversation that we have no ways that we know of to accomplish that feat.  So from my perspective God has purposely given us more than we can handle so that our dependency will be on Him.  We have what we believe are clear messages of encouragement for families.  Ways that we can cultivate safety, openness, cohesion, and direction are readily available.  The unknowns  are “Who are our audiences?” and “How do we connect with them?”  Timing is more important than time in this learning curve, so we ask for your prayers that we will be attentive and patient.

As for our vacation and education as a family – that is in full swing!  I won’t repeat Jodie and the kids’ blog postings, but I’ve thoroughly enjoyed all the opportunities we’ve had to see firsthand history and our culture.  We’re not even ¼ of the way through our trek, but we’ve been so overwhelmed by the information we’ve experienced already.  I was particularly enthralled with the video presentations in Philadelphia at the visitor’s center.  It brought me to tears when I was reminded in a fresh way of the sacrifices that our founding fathers made to produce the foundation for the freedoms we enjoy today.  I’m so grateful for such a Godly heritage.

On a humorous note, Noah said something that just tickled us – he said, “Why do they have the President of the United States swear on a Bible when the Bible says we shouldn’t swear on anything either in heaven or on earth”.  Hmm….

    Tim & Jodie

Tim and Jodie have been married since Nov. 5, 1988.  Tim is a retired Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and retired city of Tampa Firefighter.   Jodie is a happily laid off IBM/AT&T 21 yr veteran employee. So I guess you can say they're both retired, but still super busy!  They have four wonderful children:  triplets Nathan, Nicole, and   Noah born 11/16/97 and Nicholas born 5/16/99.  Nathan is at Trinity College, Noah is at Florida Polytechnic University, and Nicole is at USF.  Nicholas is an EDM (electronic dance music) creator and hoping to make a living from that!  We love and are so proud of our kids!
