Our dance competition and getting ready to launch off on our trip!

Just to clarify - no, you will not be seeing  me on Dancing with the Stars (thanks for your comment, Karol!).  :-)  But Tim and I did really enjoy the competition this weekend.  Some of the dancers were really amazing, but whether you were really good or just beginning, everyone shared a love for dancing, so that was fun.  Their scoring was a little strange, because we won 1st place in every dance we did, but so did others.  I never really understood their system, but I think it had to do with receiving a certain number of  points in your division (for example, a beginner had to earn so many points in order to get a 1st place for their dance, but a gold leverl dancer had to earn a much higher score to be awarded a 1st place for their dances).  It was a VERY long day -  it was held at a yacht club in St. Pete and we arrived at 7:30am and didn't leave until 8:30pm, and the activity was CONSTANT!  We were exhausted, but very satisfied.  They had a photo booth, and towards the end of the evening they had a luau themed dinner where we took a break and grabbed our instructors to take some goofy pictures in the photo booth, some by ourselves and some with them (I think if you click the picture it will display a larger image).  The wife instructor did my make-up and hair since I'm not used to putting my hair up and I don't ever wear much makeup, so don't be too shocked by how I look!  I'm still trying to get all that eye makeup off - how do most ladies do that?  We didn't get any pictures dancing, however, because we were concentrating on the actual dancing part!  But I think a parent of one of the students got some pictures, so if we can get them from her I'll post them here on the blog.

Well, we are getting our rental RV this coming Friday and I'm hoping we will be able to take off that day, but Tim thinks we won't be able to leave until Saturday.  He's probably right, but I'm trying to remain optimistic!  Please be praying for our final preparations.  Someone asked me how they could be praying for our family this summer, and I said, 'please be praying for divine appointments'.  We'll see how that unfolds.  Back in 2010 we took almost 4 months to go only 4,500 miles, and now we're only going to have 9 weeks to go about twice that amount!   Yikes!  But at least we get to 'finish our trip', and we're all very excited about that.  We'll keep the pictures coming and the updates flowing, Lord willing.  :-)  Hope everyone is having a great start to their summer!

    Tim & Jodie

Tim and Jodie have been married since Nov. 5, 1988.  Tim is a retired Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and retired city of Tampa Firefighter.   Jodie is a happily laid off IBM/AT&T 21 yr veteran employee. So I guess you can say they're both retired, but still super busy!  They have four wonderful children:  triplets Nathan, Nicole, and   Noah born 11/16/97 and Nicholas born 5/16/99.  Nathan is at Trinity College, Noah is at Florida Polytechnic University, and Nicole is at USF.  Nicholas is an EDM (electronic dance music) creator and hoping to make a living from that!  We love and are so proud of our kids!
