New Orleans

Yesterday, we spent the morning having breakfast and getting ready to spend the day away from the camper (packing lunch, etc), so we didn't leave until around 11:30 this morning.  We drove to a glass blowing place downtown that had some amazing pieces on display, and they gave us a quick tour of the place.  We didn't take a bunch of pictures today as we normally do, because typically I have had my camera on my phone and then Nicole has been gracious to let me use her camera, too, as well as she has been taking probably the majority of the pictures.  So thanks to her I have a few pictures from today.  Here are my favorites from the glass blowing:
Then we went to a famous French market coffee stand called Cafe' Du Monde where they have these things called Beignets (pronounced 'Banyea') ... those things are AMAZING!  We didn't know anything about these things, but Nicole has been participating in her favorite author's blog for the past couple of years, and she has become really good friends with one of the girls from the blog who happens to live near here.  So this girl's mom suggested we meet at this Cafe' so the girls could hang out for a little bit.  We had a very nice time getting to know this gracious family  as they all came except the Dad and the oldest daughter, and they treated us to this wondeful experience (I wanted to treat them but the mom wouldn't hear of it!)  Tim kept the other kids busy while we ladies visited.  Like I said, a great time with this wonderful family!

One other main thing that the boys especially wanted to do was to drive on the longest straight bridge in the world, called the Pontchartrain Causeway (24 miles).  So we left Cafe' Du Monde and started driving over the bridge.  And we kept driving, and driving, and driving.  And honestly, we became pretty bored of the whole thing.  So when we were over 1/2 way to the other side, we saw a crossover place and decided to turn around and come back.  Noah & Nicholas weren't too thrilled with that decision, but the rest of us were ready to head home as it was getting to be around 5pm, so we knew the later we waited the more we would be dealing with 5:00 traffic!  So, Nicole snapped a picture from the bridge (like I said, not all that exciting) and then a picture of another bridge we went on, that I will include here.  Well, Tim is on the mission to retrieve my phone this morning, and then we're going to head back into New Orleans to go to a museum and a few other things.  I'll try to post about that later tonight.  Hope everyone has a great day today!

Did you find the same problem with Beignets, as I? They do not have enough powdered sugar on them, jk. Jackson park has good entertainment at eve'n time, or it did. Artists, musicans and others, similar to Key west's Mallory Square. I love N O there are so many jazz and blues venues, around town.

    Tim & Jodie

Tim and Jodie have been married since Nov. 5, 1988.  Tim is a retired Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and retired city of Tampa Firefighter.   Jodie is a happily laid off IBM/AT&T 21 yr veteran employee. So I guess you can say they're both retired, but still super busy!  They have four wonderful children:  triplets Nathan, Nicole, and   Noah born 11/16/97 and Nicholas born 5/16/99.  Nathan is at Trinity College, Noah is at Florida Polytechnic University, and Nicole is at USF.  Nicholas is an EDM (electronic dance music) creator and hoping to make a living from that!  We love and are so proud of our kids!
