After being up since 4:30am, we dropped like rocks last night, so I didn’t update our blog – so sorry! So yesterday morning we bundled up, jumped in the car, and drove to Mather Point to watch the sunrise. Shortly after exiting the car, we were greeted by some friendly mule deer – they’re so cute! There was a small group of other brave souls who were gathered at the point, looking rather disheveled like us. The temperature was in the lower 50’s, so our family huddled together as we watched the sunrise. It was a little muted because there were a lot of clouds, but the sunrays still brought some vivid color to the clouds, and of course the canyon itself is so stunning it still made for a spectacular sight! About 15 minutes after sunrise, we said our sad Good Byes to the canyon and made our way back to the camper for hot chocolate and breakfast. We had a nice relaxing morning getting ready to leave for Phoenix, and hit the road around 11am. We were going to stop in Sedona, but it was rainy and we all just wanted to drive straight to Phoenix, so we did. The drive down was so beautiful. Nathan & I kept saying how different it was from what we expected. We expected flat desert lands, but it was very mountainous (especially for our flat Florida eyes) and breathtaking! After arriving at our campground, Nicole & Nicholas helped Tim get all set up, and Nathan & Noah came with me to do laundry – yeehaw! We then went to our friend’s house for dinner with our 4 kids, their 4 kids (also 3 boys and a girl) and their friends and their 4 kids (4 boys). So 10 boys and 2 girls! The boys had a great time swimming, jumping on the trampoline, shooting pool – their house is definitely set up for fun! Nicole enjoyed girl time with their daughter, and we appreciated adult time with the other 4 adults! After dinner we jumped in our vehicles and drove to a new elementary school to watch the local fireworks. It was so nice hanging out and fellowshipping with these great families!! We didn’t snap a bunch of pictures, but I’ll try to upload what I have tonight – don’t have time right now as we are getting ready to take the camper in for some warranty work on the cruise control. Fun fun!! Hope everyone has a blessed day!
