Preparing for Lebanon!!

We are less than a week away from our missions trip to Lebanon, and we can't wait!  But unfortunately we have to, so in the meantime, I thought it would good to update this blog with our itinerary and any prayer requests that come to my mind.  But first, I want to share the story of how we got here.

Some of you have asked me, "Why Lebanon"?  Or, as my doctor asked incredulously when I told him we were going to Lebanon, "Why would you want to do that?"  ahah! Well, our family has been on many domestic missions trips, from local ones all the way to Alaska,  but we have never reached out beyond our 'Jeruselem and Judea' to the utter most parts of the world.  As the triplets graduate from high school this year, we prayed about participating in an international short term mission trip, but to where?  After praying about it, I kept being drawn to the Syrian Refugee crisis, even though I hadn't even watched any news about it.  In December, when a friend of ours came into town from Dallas and told us he had just become Gateway Church's International Missions Director and they were taking a team this summer to Lebanon to help the Syrian Refugees, we rejoiced in this "God-incidence".  We still took most of the month of January to fast and pray as a family, and in the end, we believe this is where God is leading us to go.

So here is our itinerary (which we have been told could change and has already changed once from a previous version - pray we are flexible!!)
  • June 17th(Friday)- Airport Arrival 3:25pm and lunch at convent/ Maklouf's for dinner and Abundant Life service
  • June 18th(Saturday)-Ministry Preparation /team meeting & service at  Resurrection CB (Altar Ministry) & dinner with RCB team(location TBD)
  • June 19th (Sunday)- Bekaa Valley Syrian Refugee camp (all day)- AM @ House of Love- manushe on the way/(Possible time in BaalBek) /dinner on the way home
  • June 20th(Monday)-Tyre- Roman Ruins & dinner in Beirut
  • June 21st(Tuesday)- Hope Of The Nations- service in the evening Borj Hamoud
  • June 22(Wednesday)- Minister at Cedar Home All Girl Orphanage (Bsalim)- Kids Club &  City Mall
  • June 23(Thursday)-   Minister at Cedar Home All Girl Orphanage (Bsalim)- Kids Club & Dinner at Morter’s (Bsalim)
  • June 24(Friday)-Byblos & Jeita Grotto/ Gospel Generation meeting- minister to leaders  6:30-8pm (Bsalim at Christ The King building)/ nice dinner with Jessica's family
  • June 25(Saturday) airport
We leave Tampa on Thursday and arrive in Beirut on Friday (via Washington DC and Frankfurt, Germany).  There are 13 of us on our team and we will be meeting the rest of the team in Frankfurt and continuing on from there together to Beirut. We will be staying at a convent, so that should be pretty interesting!  I'm not even sure what to ask for in the way of prayer requests at this point, except the usual - that God would prepare our hearts and the hearts of those we'll be ministering to, for protection, for traveling mercies, for the team to come together as one, etc.  I guess just pray as you feel led!!  Many of you have generously donated to this trip, and I am happy to report that as of 2 days ago (Wednesday) we are all fully funded!!  Woohoo!!  I just want to say thank you again for partnering with us in prayer and support for this missions trip!

Bless you all as you continue to be the hands and feet of Jesus in this world! We will be lifting you up in prayer during this journey and look forward to hearing all that God is orchestrating there. <3

    Tim & Jodie

Tim and Jodie have been married since Nov. 5, 1988.  Tim is a retired Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and retired city of Tampa Firefighter.   Jodie is a happily laid off IBM/AT&T 21 yr veteran employee. So I guess you can say they're both retired, but still super busy!  They have four wonderful children:  triplets Nathan, Nicole, and   Noah born 11/16/97 and Nicholas born 5/16/99.  Nathan is at Trinity College, Noah is at Florida Polytechnic University, and Nicole is at USF.  Nicholas is an EDM (electronic dance music) creator and hoping to make a living from that!  We love and are so proud of our kids!
