The history lessons we've learned on this trip have been phenomenal! Today we experienced the Freedom Trail. I had heard of it before, but I honestly had no idea what it was. It is simply a trail of historic sites in Boston that you can easily walk and see the actual places where histroy unfolded. But first, we started our day at Boston Commons. When we arrived there, we heard a lady on a loud speaker and saw a bunch of people gathering, so walked over to investigate what all the fuss was about. It turns out it was a lady's marathon with over 8,000 women participating. There were tons of vendors set up giving all kinds of stuff away, so we hung out there for awhile. Noah immediately spotted a van that is basically a travling video arcade of Wii and Xbox games, so the boys enjoyed trying out all the latest games they had. There was as also a cool playground that the boys played on while Tim ran and got our lunch out of the car. After lunch we started our trek on the Freedom Trail and had a fantastic time reading and learning about each place we visited. We didn't make it all the way to Bunker Hill, but maybe we'll be able to do that tomorrrow. Here's a few pictures from our history lesson day in front of the Massachusettes State House, Nathan with Ben Franklin, Tim with John Adams, and then me with a statue of Paul Revere (and Tim taking Nathan & Nicholas' picture as well):
